about

The Kajunga scanner array is a hulking mass of motley tech and materials, orbiting quasar TON618, the largest black hole in the known universe. Designed to sense even the faintest signals from across the multiverse, it has a sophisticated AI that discerns an unending storm of input. So, when it picked up pumping subgamma techno rhythms it immediately alerted the four Kajunga captains.

When they intercepted the signal, what they found was a derelict space probe of unknown design. On the construct were pictures, equations, writing and an audio-visual disc with images of insect life forms and strange sonic textures, much like the voyager probe launched by earthlings cir. M2-1977. The Kajunganauts set off to the coordinates they found on the alien craft.

Arriving at their destination they found a lost planet (KDG-6602), frozen for millennia, a world with no sun and no moon. Early scans confirmed that whatever knocked it out of orbit was unnatural, the near absolute-zero surface a perfect snapshot of the strange life forms it once hosted. In a desperate attempt before the final frost, a hyper-intelligent race of bugs launched the probe with instructions on how to revive their home and species. After months of translating the insect manuscripts the crew learned there are thirteen geodesic points on the planet’s surface, where they must simultaneously amplify ancient pterygotic rhythms.

To do this they would need help.

They raced to their ships and used their sonic tel-encoders to request help from the most advanced and visionary technomancers in the region. Only the gallant and dauntless answered the call. Thirteen strong and united in spirit, they dispersed across the planet into a foreign geo-pattern, witnessing the bizarre frozen remains of life forms and ecosystems from a lost planet.

They reached their positions, built their sound systems, and coordinated their broadcast. Driving biorhythms radiated across the planet from the sacred sites, and the planet's magnetosphere began to resonate and react. It expanded, reached out into space like a colossal amoeba, and engulfed a star from a nearby binary system; pulling it close, and forcing the acquired star into a geocentric orbit around the planet. Then, as the prophecy foretold, the bug planet began to thaw.

When the ice melted away each of the thirteen space sorcerers found themselves with access to holy insect ruins where they discovered transcriptions of ancient arthropod technology that could be used to rapidly terraform the dead planet and revive its spirit. By programming the rhythms and tones written in the temples, and amplifying the sounds, the elements and life force of the planet would react.

With this newly rediscovered power at their fingertips the band of sonic engineers traveled the desolate expanse following the insects’ plan to mold the terrain and ecosystems. Beginning with the air and atmosphere, they used the highest proturan frequencies their rigs could produce to catalyse gaseous fusions, creating layers of ozone and diffusion of vital gasses. On the surface, subsonic dipluran rhythms boomed across the land, moving bedrock and reactivating geologic activity. BetaHz waves droned through the unfrozen but barren eco-scapes, shaking loose trapped minerals and buried incubating life.

The power harnessed by biotech beats was magnified by the energy of the stolen star, and the insect planet was ready to host an emergence swarm. Ancient arthropods who invented this awesome techno magic would return to bless the universe with its beauty and grit. The last task was to restart the core and reconnect the planet with the celestial plane.

The four founding members led their co-conspirators deep into the center of KDG-6602 in an attempt to manually restart the core. Following the emergency instructions left on the derelict probe, they played the audio-visual disc through their sound system’s laser-relay. Each took direct aim at the core, using the disc’s frequency pattern to prime a fusion reaction. The enchanting alien frequency danced and weaved light into a celestial gate, allowing pulsar waves from the insects’ original sun to pour through, reconnecting the planet with the cosmos and activating its core. Having discovered radical new technology and ignited the rise of a great civilization, each of the nine other freq. technicians headed to the far reaches of the universe to continue their explorations of the sonosphere. With just the founding members of Kajunga to close the gate, they powered down their amplifiers and watched with satisfaction as the portal’s light slowly faded. But before the last particle of the woven light could escape again into ether, the greatest fear of the ancient techno insects came true, a warning that the crew’s translations seemed to miss, and something cold, primordial, and malicious slipped through…
